Starsky & Hatch

Starsky & Hatch is an independent café and kitchen right on the Lower Promenade, tucked inside the historic Bottle Alley in St Leonards. Built straight into a concrete beach bastion, it’s about as close to the sea as you can get without your cossie.

This is a lovely beachfront hangout serving artisan coffee, wholesome food and panoramic sea views. The menu runs from breakfast bowls, granola and smoothies and there is a generous spread of vegetarian and vegan options. There is a full bar too + live music most weekends.

WHAT WE LOVE

The setting, obviously. Few cafés can offer you a deckchair with a flat white. But it’s the social vibe that keeps people coming back for a lazy weekend breakfast or a Bloody Mary in the sun.
