Sussex Christmas Tree Flinging Championships 2026

Find out how far you can fling a six-foot Norway spruce at Catsfield Christmas Tree Farm today.

The Sussex Christmas Tree Flinging Championship is back for its sixth year and you could bag yourself £150 and a trophy if you win. The kids get smaller trees (phew) and their own competitions for under-10s and under-16s – the winners take home shop vouchers and trophies.

If you don’t fancy competing, you are welcome to go along and watch other people chuck trees about. There is a Christmas shop that opens at 12:30 pm and The Waffle Wagon will be serving waffles and hot drinks during the competitions.

Adult competitors need to register in advance (children and spectators don’t need to register). Check-in opens at 12:30 pm and competitors should gather at 1:15 pm. Wear sturdy footwear and bring gloves for handling the spiky trees.

Last year’s winning throws were 9.1 metres and 5.65 metres respectively. So, there’s your target – best get practising.
