There is nowhere better than the Stade for this. The working fishing beach (home to Europe’s largest beach-launched fleet and lined with old black net huts) gives itself over this weekend to a proper seaside feast.
Head down for fresh-off-the-boat seafood and several glasses of Sussex and Kent wine. There’s live music and cookery demos from C.J. Jackson, the Billingsgate-trained ‘Fish Boss.’ Go for a wander around the wine marquee to see what the local vineyards have been up to.
This year, the festival is turning up the volume, with each day bringing its own musical flavour to the Stade.
