Hastings Old Town Pram Race
05 AUGUST 2026
It’s time for the annual Hastings Old Town Pram Race and if you have never seen it – go! We promise, you won’t ever forget the sight of grown adults in outrageous costumes, hurtling between pubs for charity.
Part pub crawl, part fancy dress competition, part race (sort of), the legendary Hastings Old Town Pram Race is one of Carnival Week’s funniest traditions.
Get a team together, decorate a pram, and race round the Old Town collecting money for local charities as you go. It’s £20 per team to enter, and because it’s grown so much over the years, entries now have to go in early – all teams must register in person at The Cutter pub by 6 pm on 4th August. To be considered for judging, teams need to arrive by 7 pm on the night, with the race itself running between roughly 7:15 pm and 9 pm.
If you’re not racing. You can still catch all the chaotic action. George Street draws the biggest crowds, especially outside Ye Olde Pumphouse and the Albion. FILO is a popular stop, while All Saints Street and The Bourne are worth checking near The Crown and the local pubs around there.
It’s strictly over-18s for anyone taking part, and every entry helps raise money for the Hastings Old Town Carnival Association and local charities.
