Hastings Storytelling Festival - Children's Day
25 OCTOBER 2026
Children’s Day takes over The Stade today for the Hastings Storytelling Festival finale. It’s free all afternoon and ends with a Gruffalo-themed parade at 3 pm.
Check out this line-up though: Pirate Gem from CBeebies is bringing her Swashbuckling Adventure show and Long Nose Puppets will perform Penguin, based on Polly Dunbar’s book.
Special guest Tor Freeman is joining the day (at the invitation of Axel Scheffler), Alliouagana Pearl will share Caribbean stories and Xanthe Gresham-Knight will mix storytelling with music.
There’s also stuff for younger children from Nightingale Music – they might even spot Mermaid Tales roaming around on giant seahorses (omg).
The kids can also make their own Gruffalo-themed pieces in a drop-in workshop before joining the carnival parade at 3 pm – with Donna Fox’s costumes, Sambalanco and the Raven Drummers all part of the procession.
It’s on from 12 pm to 4 pm at The Stade and it’s …COMPLETELY FREE!
This town is great.
