Hastings Book Festival: Jake Arnott
20 SEPTEMBER 2026
Jake Arnott is at Hastings Book Festival with Netherwood, his new gothic folk-horror novel that’s set right here in Hastings.
The story follows Justine and Adam, who leave London for a fisherman’s cottage overlooking the sea. Then they discover the house holds many secrets. From there, things get considerably darker, with the story leading back to Aleister Crowley and the years he spent in Hastings.
Arnott is also the author of The Long Firm, which became a BAFTA-winning BBC series, and He Kills Coppers, later adapted for ITV.
It’s at the Observer Building and runs from 4 pm – 4:45 pm. Tickets are £10.25 but you can see all seven Local Heroes events with a festival pass for £30.
