If you like properly dark comedy – get yourself to The Stables Theatre this week and catch Martin McDonagh’s The Beauty Queen of Leenane.
The story is about Maureen, who lives in a run-down cottage in Connemara with her manipulative mother, Mag. Then an admirer turns up and for the first time in a long while, Maureen sees a possible way out. But Mother Mag is having none of it.
It’s written by Martin McDonagh (the guy who did The Banshees of Inisherin and In Bruges), so you already know it’s going to be better than amazing.
There are 7:30 pm performances from 15th – 19th September, plus a 2:30 pm matinee on Saturday 19th September.
Tickets £13.50 adults and £8.50 for under-18s and members. Run time is around 1 hour 45 minutes including interval
