UNSAFE: The Carceral Roots of the Anti-Trans Backlash book launch & panel
16 NOVEMBER 2026
Join Trans Pride Hastings and Women’s Voice for the launch of Lamble’s first book, Unsafe: The Carceral Roots of the Anti-Trans Backlash at Amici Studio in Hastings.
The book examines how fears about cis women’s safety have been used to restrict trans people’s rights. Lamble draws on feminist and queer traditions, alongside their experience of organising against prisons and policing to explore safety through collective care and transformative justice.
Lamble is a community organiser and professor of criminology and queer theory at Birkbeck, University of London. Joining them on the panel are Janey Starling and Victoria Oldman.
Janey is a feminist writer and co-director of gender justice organisation, Level Up and leads a national campaign to end the imprisonment of pregnant women. Victoria is the co-founder and director of Trans Pride Hastings and works as an artist and TNBI educator.
The event runs from 6 pm to 8:30 pm and standard tickets are £5.
A £3 solidarity rate is available for people on a low income or facing financial barriers. Students and people who are underemployed can also book at this rate. If you are able to contribute more, a £10 Pay It Forward ticket helps fund subsidised places. Copies of the book will be available for sale.
