Sonny Flint's Beano Bluesbreakers + Laine Hines

One for the blues purists, this. Sonny Flint’s Beano Bluesbreakers land at The Piper to mark the 60th anniversary of Blues Breakers with Eric Clapton – the John Mayall record widely credited with defining Britain’s electric blues movement.

This isn’t a loose homage, either; they recreate the album faithfully, sticking close to the original arrangements right down to the period gear, with Neil Roberts channelling Clapton’s landmark guitar work on Gibsons through Marshall amps.

There’s real family history here, too. Sonny Flint is the son of Hughie Flint, the album’s original drummer, and vocalist Laine Hines is the son of Denny Laine of The Moody Blues and Wings – deeper than your average tribute. Expect to hear the landmark album played in full, alongside other classics from Mayall’s 1966 heyday.
