NOT PURE FIRST FILM SCREENING

Not Pure takes the story of Jesus and Pontius Pilate and drops it into the life of a 16-year-old girl and it gets its first public screening here in St Leonards.

Love Crucified has run away from home. As a love triangle unfolds around her, her story begins to echo events from the biblical past. The result is a 60-minute experimental film described by its creator as a cinematic parable.

Behind Not Pure is award-winning filmmaker Svetlana Sigalaeva of independent film company Light Danko. Her work has travelled to more than 70 international film festivals, earning recognition for both directing and storytelling, whilst her own creative life has been shaped by censorship and later exile.

This will be the first time Not Pure has been shown to a public audience. It’s rated 16+ and runs for 60 mins. Tickets are a fiver.
