Bev Lee Harling: Things I Know and Things I Don't
23 OCTOBER 2026 - 24 OCTOBER 2026
Bev Lee Harling brings her father’s stories to Stables Theatre for Hastings Storytelling Festival in a show about what stayed with him as his dementia progressed.
She gathered his memories of working in the family foundry in Elephant and Castle. As words became less reliable, music held on. He could still remember every word of a Hank Williams song long after he’d forgotten what he’d had for dinner.
Things I Know and Things I Don’t brings those stories together with songs and the Fairlight landscape where he walked every day. A wood and steel tree created with sculptor Leigh Dyer becomes a playable instrument at the heart of the performance.
It’s an intimate portrait of her father with humour and joy alongside the loss. See it at Stables Theatre in Hastings on Friday 23rd or Saturday 24th October at 7:30 pm. Tickets are £15.
Part of Hastings Storytelling Festival.
