AMBIENT SKIES WITH RUMEN

Hastings Castle is staying open after dark for the first Ambient Skies, pairing a live set from Rumen with an evening led by the Sussex Sidewalk Astronomers.

Rumen brings together Christopher White on soprano saxophone and Ruby Colley on violin. Using electronics and less conventional ways of playing their instruments, the pair create music that draws on classical and jazz without sitting comfortably in either.

Head over at 7:30pm to catch the view before the Sussex Sidewalk Astronomers introduce the night sky. Rumen begin at 8:30 pm, filling the castle grounds as daylight gives way to darkness.

Bring a blanket and cushions, as you will be encouraged to lie down during the performance. Once the set finishes, the bar stays open and the astronomers bring out their telescope for a closer look at the sky.

Tickets are £20, including booking fee. Stargazing is weather dependent, so if conditions force the event to be postponed or cancelled, organisers will confirm this by the morning.
