Edith Festival 2026
17 OCTOBER 2026
To mark the massive 960th anniversary of the Battle of Hastings, the Friends of Edith are hosting a brilliant evening at The Marina Fountain.
Dive into the post-invasion lives of Gytha and Gunnhild (the daughters of King Harold and Edith Swanneck). The performance uses a mix of live history talks and acted scenes by the Crowhurst Drama Group, to show how these two women used their wits to survive the wreckage of Anglo-Saxon England.
The pub is also putting on a themed menu for the night, including ‘Kiev burgers’ to celebrate the family’s historical Ukrainian connections. It runs from 7 pm – 10 pm and tickets are £10.
