XMTR AUDIO ARTS FESTIVAL 2026

XMTR Audio Arts Festival is taking over Hastings and St Leonards from Friday to Sunday (plus a field trip on Monday) and if you’re into cool audio stuff – this will be right up your strasse.

Think of it as an art festival, but for your ears – you go into different venues and get surrounded by crazy sound installations and live sound effects (Foley) and storytelling. They have international sound artists turning everyday local spaces into immersive audio worlds. Plus guided coastal sound walks and deep-listening headphone sessions.

The Big Highlights:

The Launch (Friday night): They are kicking things off with a massive “Audio Cabaret” and festival launch party, held at Crown House in St Leonards.

Sonic Questing (Saturday & Sunday): This is a huge sound installation where artists blend things like crashing waves and weird electronics to build these fictional, trippy acoustic universes you can walk through.

Foley Follies: A live show where they take completely random objects (like beach pebbles and hot water bottles) mic them up, and manipulate the sounds live into massive soundscapes.

The Coastal Trip (Monday): If you fancy a trek, they are  doing a specialized sound walk out at Dungeness to wrap it all up.
