eclipse viewing @ Hastings Country Park
12 AUGUST 2026
Fairlight Astronomers are hosting a public viewing of the partial solar eclipse at Hastings Country Park, with the Moon set to cover 92% of the Sun.
The group will be set up in the Bale House car park from 5:45 pm and the eclipse begins at 6:17 pm, with the maximum eclipse taking place at 7:14 pm, continuing until 8:06 pm.
Experienced local astronomers will be there to explain what is happening and help everyone view it safely. Certified eclipse glasses, supplied courtesy of Go Stargazing, will also be available free of charge.
With such a large part of the Sun covered, this should be an impressive sight from one of Hastings’ best coastal viewpoints. Observing is weather dependent, so keep everything crossed for clear skies.
