Writing For The Stage with April De Angelis
24 JULY 2026 - 11 SEPTEMBER 2026
If you fancy writing a play, this in-depth eight-week course runs 11 am to 12.30 pm on Fridays from 24th July to 11th September and is a chance to get properly stuck into writing for the stage (and it’s built to suit both first-timers and writers with a bit more experience under their belt).
You will begin with scene structure, then dig into character, dialogue, setting, storytelling – until you have what you need to start a play or push on with one you’re already working on. There are creative exercises to get the ideas flowing, plus feedback on your own work from the group and from April herself, so you leave each week a bit further along.
April is an acclaimed British playwright whose work has been staged by the Royal Court, the National Theatre and the RSC. Her plays include Playhouse Creatures and My Brilliant Friend, her adaptation of Elena Ferrante’s Neapolitan novels, and Jumpy landed an Olivier nomination for Best New Play. April was made a Fellow of the Royal Society of Literature in 2020.
Places are from £229.
